The Internet is one of the best things to happen to radio listeners and music lovers in this repressive era of media consolidation. The Internet has brought choice and diversity to the music landscape, a landscape in which previously your choice was dictated by large corporate interests. The royalty rate recommendations by the Copyright Arbitration Royalty Panel (CARP), which was recently ammended by the Librarian of Congress last June, would likely severely limit or eliminate the majority of the most creative, unique and independent Internet radio (and soon to be TV) outlets today if enacted into law as is.

We firmly believe that artists should be compensated for their works. As such, we utilize the service known as Live365.com which is an ASCAP & BMI Licensed website to broadcast our unique content on the Internet.  To see this license and other legal stuff, click here  But these draconian recommendations for the reporting and payment of public performance copyright royalties would make it nearly impossible for all but the largest media companies to broadcast music online.  Even Clear Channel, with its 1100+ terrestrial radio stations, would BARELY survive as a webcaster.

If you have an opinion, NOW is the time to express it, and not just to friends and inside message boards and newsgroups. Please contact your U.S. Senator or Representative and tell them to reject the recommendations as prescribed by the CARP and ammended by the U.S. Copyright Office and tell them to support HR 5469 TODAY!!!  To write or (MOST preferrably) CALL your Congressional Representative, use the following links and follow the on-screen instructions.

DO speak up -- But BE CIVIL!!!  They are people too just like you.  Being UNcivil will only play right into the hands of these big companies (and we don't want that, now do we?)  Speak Out and don't delay. THE DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 30TH, 2002.
